What We Publish

Jagged Edges Creative Magazine publishes stories from experienced and emerging authors about faith, doubt, hardship, and spiritual struggle in the form of poetry, nonfiction, and/or short memoirs.

Our first issue, A Leap of Faith, will launch in August 2026.

Our Jagged Blog publishes interviews, multimedia testimonies, faith-related book reviews, editorial opinion pieces, church spotlights, and more.

We’re looking for imperfect, fiercely honest nonfiction that explores faith in some shape or form. Give us stories with a strong character voice—pieces that reveal your jagged edges, your seemingly unclimbable mountains, your deepest grapplings. We want stories and snapshots of lives where the narrator faces a tumultuous crossroads, wrestles with change and doubt, and comes out transformed.

have a complicated relationship with the church,
are at a crossroads in your faith,
want to tell your story but don't know how,
and/or seek to find acceptance and belonging in your broken walk to faith,

Please note: Our editorial process is hands-on, designed to help both experienced and emerging writers bring a jagged edge of their story to life. If your piece is selected, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with our senior editorial team through a few rounds of editing, which may include polishing your story, strengthening your voice, and helping you articulate, understand, and grow in your faith journey.

What We Look For

Stories and Testimonies for us

WE AREN'T LOOKING FOR:

Preachy or dogmatic pieces: We’re not looking for sermons or writing that instructs or tells readers what to believe. Our focus is on personal journeys, struggles, and reflections as a means to find connections and build bridges of understanding across divides.
Fiction or heavily dramatized accounts: While creative nonfiction allows some literary license, we want real, personal experiences, not fictionalized or exaggerated tales.
One-dimensional narratives: We’re looking for complexity; faith is rarely linear. Pieces that don’t grapple with struggle, doubt, or growth may not resonate with our readers.
Disrespectful or harmful content: We welcome honest struggle, but submissions that demean, attack, or exploit others and their religious beliefs are not appropriate.
AI submissions: We do not accept work from artificial intelligence (“AI”) generators or similar.

Guidelines

Categories Accepted:

Creative Nonfiction: up to 7,000 words
Memoirs: up to 9,000 words
Poetry: three pages or less per poem, up to five poems per submission
Faith-based book reviews
Multimedia Interviews/Testimonials

How to Submit:

Email all submissions as a Word Document to bekah@jagged-edges-mag.com.
In the subject line of your email, indicate which category you are submitting (nonfiction, memoir, poetry, editorial piece, etc.)
In the body of your email, please list the title of your piece(s), word count, and where your piece is in its writing journey; is it still rough, something you’d like to shape with our editorial team, in-progress, or a fully formed piece you’ve already polished?
Please share in your email anything else you would like us to know about you, your story, and your work.
